Our main purpose for serving in Papua is to glorify God by providing theological education to the various church leaders that are spread out in the Korowai region, plus now we are beginning to teach church leaders in the Mamberamo region and in the mountains of Papua. Our purpose also includes translating the Northern Korowai language, which until 2018 had no written language. We have translated the Salvation History Catechisms into the Northern Korowai dialect. This was an eight-year project that is now in the hands of the Northern Korowai speakers.
The national church of Indonesia (Gereja Injil di Indonesia) sends out men to different ethnic groups throughout Papua. We are co-laboring with these men and women in reach these unreached tribes. Our motto is based off of 2 Timothy 2:2, “What you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.” We do not want to bypass these men and women that are faithful in their labors for Christ. This is a multiplicational gospel. This is an intense, engaging gospel that we have been entrusted to, and therefore, we do not want to engage in this solo.
